How it's calculated

Age = whole years + whole months + remaining days between the two dates
Total days = end date − birth date

Age is counted the way people count it: whole years first, then whole months, then the days left. Total days counts every day between the two dates. Someone born on 29 February is counted a year older on 28 February in non-leap years.

    About the Age calculator

This age calculator gives your exact age in years, months and days, counted the way people count age: whole years first, then whole months, then the days left over. It also gives your age as total months, weeks and days, the date of your next birthday and how many days remain until it. You can measure age on any date, not just today, which helps with forms, eligibility cut-offs and anniversaries. Birthdays on 29 February are handled too: in non-leap years you turn a year older on 28 February. To count the days between any two dates, use the date calculator.

    How to use it

    1. Enter your “Date of birth”.
    2. Leave “Age on” as today, or pick another date to see how old you were or will be then.
    3. Read your age in years, months and days, then the totals and your next birthday.

    Worked example

Someone born on 15 May 1990 is 36 years, 4 months and 29 days old on 14 October 2026. That is 436 whole months or 13,301 days, and their next birthday, on 15 May 2027, is 213 days away.

    Questions people ask

How do I calculate my exact age?

Count the whole years since your birth date, then the whole months after your last birthday, then the days left. The calculator does this for you and shows each part.

How many days old am I?

Enter your date of birth and read “Total days”: it counts every day from your birth date to the “Age on” date.

When does someone born on 29 February have a birthday?

In years that are not leap years, this calculator counts them a year older on 28 February. A person born on 29 February 2000 is exactly 1 year old on 28 February 2001.

Can I work out my age on a past or future date?

Yes. Change “Age on” to any date on or after your date of birth, for example a deadline or an exam date.

Why does my age in months not match years × 12?

Total months counts only whole months completed, so the days since your last monthly anniversary are not included until a full month has passed.
